Community at Temple Israel
Rabbi’s Message – October 5, 2023

Over Yom Kippur I spoke about living a life of integrity, a life reflective of the values we hold most dear. A few of you have asked about some of the organizations that I had referred to, especially regarding the expression of Ahavat Yisrael, Love of Israel.
Below is a list of some of my favorite organizations, though I encourage you to discover some of your own. Additionally, I consider it a mitzvah to stay abreast of what is happening in Israel. One of my favorite sources of news is The Times of Israel.
If you are looking for more in-person learning opportunities, Temple Israel has something for everyone. This Sunday, Rabbi Emeritus David Sofian will speak at the Ryterband Brunch about his experiences as a citizen of Israel. Next Sunday, October 15, I will begin my Israel class using the ARZA provided curriculum about the 4HQ’s. Click here for more information about the 4HQ’s.
And last, to see what it means to live a life of integrity, truly walking the walk and not just talking the talk, I encourage you to watch the video of our Yom Kippur afternoon speaker, Rev. Tim Forbess. His dedication to our community is inspiring and aspirational.
Moadim l’simcha,
Karen
