Rabbi’s Message -August 7, 2025

As the summer sun begins to fade and school supplies start appearing in ads and shopping carts, it can mean only one thing: The start of the school year, and Religious School is just around the corner! Whether your summer was a time of rest, adventure, challenge, or growth (or, let’s be honest, all of the above), we’re excited to welcome our whole congregation back as school and the Fall holidays approach; to catch up and join together for another year of learning, connection, and community.
We’re kicking off the year with our Second Annual Pickleball Picnic on Saturday, August 10 at 11:30 a.m., and we hope to see you there! This end of summer celebration is open to the entire congregation – not just Religious School families. It’s a chance to reconnect with old friends, meet new faces, and ease into the school year with joy and some healthy competition.
We’ll have pickleball courts set up for all ages and comfort levels – including a half-size court ideal for younger kids or those who prefer a slower pace. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just curious what all the pickleball buzz is about, there’s a spot for you. For those less inclined to hit the courts, we’ll have our brand new Mah Jongg set out, and hopefully some experienced players or new players who just learned the game at Share Shabbat. We’ll have other games and activities for all ages and abilities as well, and of course, plenty of good company! A picnic-style lunch with gluten-free and vegetarian options will be prepared by our
Religious School Committee and volunteers.
